What is a Percentage?

Common Percentage Formulas
1. Find the Percentage of a Number
Question: What is P% of X?
Formula: (P / 100) * X
Example: 20% of 500 = (20/100) * 500 = 100.
2. Find Percentage Change (Increase/Decrease)
Question: What is the % change from A to B?
Formula: ((B - A) / A) * 100
Example: Price goes from 100 to 150. Change = ((150-100)/100)*100 = 50% Increase.
3. Find What Percent X is of Y
Question: X is what % of Y?
Formula: (X / Y) * 100
Example: You scored 45 out of 50. (45/50)*100 = 90%.
Real-Life Examples
