Crypto Tax in India (The "Bhari" Reality)
Investing in crypto is profitable, but you must understand the costs involved. This calculator is specifically designed with Indian tax laws in mind.
1. Flat 30% Tax
India charges a flat 30% tax on all Virtual Digital Asset (VDA) profits.
Important: You cannot offset losses. If you lose ₹10k in Bitcoin and gain ₹10k in Ethereum, you still pay tax on the ₹10k gain. The loss is ignored.
2. 1% TDS (Tax Deducted at Source)
On every Sell transaction (above certain limits), the exchange deducts 1% TDS. This is not an extra cost; it is advance tax. You can claim it back when filing your ITR if your total tax liability is lower.
3. Exchange Fees
Exchanges charge a fee (usually 0.1% to 0.5%) when you buy AND when you sell. This calculator includes both to show your true Breakeven Point.
What is Breakeven Price?
The Breakeven Price is the price at which you can sell your crypto to cover all your buying fees and selling fees, resulting in ₹0 profit and ₹0 loss. Selling above this price means you are actually making money.
